Higher Ground
04:18
|
|
||
Well I lost all day to that wretched porter's graces
Who shook my hand at first and then threw away my cases
While I sat down, smiling, trying not be broken
A man had asked me why I was so damn soft spoken
Well I fought my way through countries and their borders
I had no change to spare, nor a troop to place an order
There were grey skies flying along those sunken hills
I never trusted men in charge, nor should I trust a Jill
There were fields
There were stars
There were forests in the fog
And there were farmers chasing dogs
There was light
There was dark
There were men without courage
Or men without hearts
I've been trying, trying so hard
To take my leave, and go home
To the mountains I will be
On higher ground, I'm safe from thee

Out To Sea
02:52
|
|
||
I looked out to sea
Floating in the blue
They were calling me
A shipwreck, and it's crew
They were hunting
for lost gold
Digging in the deep
they only found cold
So I looked out west
My dreams were on my mind
someone to call my own
To call "my kind"
I will stomp my boots
and clap my hands
And I will show the whole damn world
My heart still stands
And it's been several years since I saw your face
but that smile still puts my heart back in it's place
and I wondered if all my years had run dry
But I still get lost when I look into your eyes

Pack My Bags
04:36
|
|
||
I decided late one night
to pack up my bags and leave home
but i forgot one thing
I'd have to carry them on my own
I think I fear lots of girls
Who carefully choose their words,
and care more of outside review
than taking some out hearts to chew
Is this how it ends?
But I've torn out those pages
I've lost all the places
I've stricken them from records
and I've found whole new ways
to look fine everyday
but I can't quite get the hang of it

Winter (In Our City)
02:16
|
|
||
It was winter in our city
we were holding hands in the back of a cab
And I knew that this moment wouldnt last forever
So I made the best of what I could
Now if these 2 paws couldnt make a fist
Well why should I have to come listen to this
I just sit here and beg for more
And I'll just trail on about your wit
or why we had to have never started it
and I'll leave here without a word towards my goal
Now it's summer and I've yet to breath
and I do recall your hand on mine
I've killed the moments with my broken jaw
and I'm not so sure you understood my awkwardness
Now if these 2 paws couldnt make a fist
Well why should I have to come listen to this
I just sit here and beg for more
Beg for more
And I'll just trail on about your wit
or why we had to have never started it
and I'll leave here without a word towards my goal

The Captain Andrew Bootstring Band Toronto, Ontario
The Captain Andrew Bootstring Band was formed in the closing days of the month of January, 2013. The concept was simple: start a band where-in the members could feel comfortable wearing vests. It goes without saying that the band pushed hard following that opening statement, and quickly evolved in to something with a little more depth than a fashion catalogue for well-to-do men. ... more
